A Breath of Fresh Air

Have you ever been somewhere and just felt the presence of something refreshing and inspiring, something that changed your whole perspective and lit up your face?

Often, we have these moments, however, we don’t act upon them out of fear of the risk of showing a side of us that we have censored.  To reveal our true uniqueness that God created us to be can sometimes be overwhelming, but the truth is that God desires for us to do exactly that, be our true self in Christ.  God wants us to be that “Breath of Fresh Air” to another person by being true to His word and authentic in His eyes.  What are we representing when we are among others? We have all made the statement, “hey, we need to get together soon and catch up”, how often are you following up on that statement? I ask myself the same question.  My answer…Not enough!

I want to be “A Breath of Fresh Air” for others, in doing that I need to show more of Christ love to others.  In 2 Timothy 1, Paul writes a letter to Timothy and encourages him to stay faithful to his true self in Christ.  Paul says in 2 Timothy 1: 5-7, “I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

Paul goes on to say in 2 Timothy 1:16, “May the Lord show special kindness to Onesiphorus and all his family because he often visited and encouraged me. He was never ashamed of me because I was in chains.”

So many of us are in chains, not in the literal sense, however, in the world today many people are broken and need that encouragement, that comfort that can lift them up out of the pit, someone that believes in them to help break those “chains” of addiction, depression, pain, anger, bitterness or whatever has them held captive.

All the ugliness in the world can be broken by a simple act of kindness and follow through with your actions to back up your words.  Onesiphorus not only was encouraged, but he followed through and he visited Paul because he wasn’t ashamed, he wasn’t embarrassed, it was a selfless act that encouraged another person who was broken.  He was the Breath of Fresh Air that Paul needed even though everyone else deserted him. Who are you deserting?

Today, I encourage you to be a light of Christ in someone’s darkness, give them hope, encouragement, and love. Be the one that lights up their face and refreshes their soul. Never be ashamed of showing a simple act of kindness, because of today, you showed the heart of Christ’s love and broke one of those chain links that are holding that person in bondage.

Remember as a believer and follower of Christ, there is no fear, shame, or timidity in doing what is kind and doing what is right by people, we are all broken and hurting in one way or another.

Who can you be A Breath of Fresh Air to today?

“Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night.” (Philippians 2:15)

Love and Hugs to you today and always,

Abundantly Blessed!
