Opportunities…Wishing I Would Have
How many times in your life have you looked back and said, “Wow, I wish I would have…?” For me, I have too many to count. Do you live with regret or do you move past it and acknowledge that you missed that opportunity? We have all heard, “move past it and start realizing that you can’t change what is already gone”. It is honestly the only way to move forward, however, the reality is, it’s also one of the most difficult things to do. God closes doors and opens new ones every day. We are given a helper, the Holy Spirit. Parallel with honesty, we have to be open and transparent to listen to the Holy Spirit. We will miss more opportunities that God opens for us if we choose to be dishonest. We have to get out of ourselves in order to be with God.
“She looks back at times in her life and realizes that she could have done better. She had dreams that were lost out of fear of failure because that’s all she knew, failure. Granted not all her darkness was by her choice, but she carries that burden into her future. As her mental state improves, every now and then visions keep her up at night. Constant reminders such as smells, sights, and behaviors of others bring back pain that she tucked away for so long. Tears fall, heartache comes full circle and she feels the repeat of her past all over again. As she reflects upon the choices made in her past, she steps out of what is familiar and grows into a life of learning to face a new future. She made the choice this time to make something of herself and not miss out on the opportunities that God placed before her, she found the courage again to fight for her life. No more missed opportunities, she said.”
I have seen several of my friends and family miss out on blessings that God had right before them. Why did they choose to be blind to what God had for them? Honestly, I asked myself this same question. My answer, my life was about me and it was the one thing that I could control. Lesson to be learned, it’s not about me, it’s not about others; it is all about Glorifying God. If you think you are alone, you are not. God has great things in store for all of us, lined up and waiting for us to meet with Him. I would encourage you to make your move in the direction that God calls you, not what the neighbors, family or friends are being called to, but what YOU are called to! Do not miss out on any more opportunities because you are listening to the world and not what is from God.
Do not wait for the person you need to reach out to is gone from this world to express your heart. If there are people in your circle of “friends” who are not reaching out to you, if you feel you are the only one reaching out to no avail, then move on, they are not meant to be in your life. If you are not important enough in their life for them to contact you, consider it their missed opportunity, not yours. Actions speak louder than words, in order to make this world a better place, we have to unite together NOW, be a friend NOW, reach out to someone on your heart NOW.
“I wish I would have…” is looking in the past, “I wish I would have…” is a wish that will never happen. I no longer, “wish I would have”, I WILL NOW, change the present and future of my relationships.
Does looking back wishing for a better life change what life is now? Does looking back wishing you had told that person how much they touched your life help you now? “Wishing you would have” doesn’t change the here and now, nor does it change the person or the missed opportunity. If it’s procrastination, quit being lazy and do something about the change that YOU can do. Humble yourself. Opportunities are blessings from God and when you miss those blessings, it hurts the heart of your Father.
Take time for people now and we will change the world, one by one, we can do this together. Don’t miss the opportunity!
Keep Smiling and Have Faith!
